Racism and Resistance in Southern Africa and the
U.S.: Struggles Against Colonialism, Apartheid and Segregation

Explore some of the many historical parallels of the
development of racism in the white supremacist regimes of southern
Africa and in the U.S.

Examine the strategies of resistance used by the
various anti-apartheid and democratic movements in southern Africa and
the civil rights movement in the United States

Critically examine successes and limitations of the
formal political victories over apartheid and racism and the lingering
economic, social, political and psychological effects of racism.
