Public Transit Options

Augsburg is within easy reach of several Metro Transit bus lines as well as the Hiawatha Light Rail line. Metro Transit’s web site includes schedules, maps, an online trip planner, and information for new transit riders. You can also download a map of the campus showing bus stops and transit lines near campus for your convenience.

All Metro Transit buses and trains are wheelchair-accessible and are equipped with bike racks.

Metro Transit buses are a great way to get to Augsburg and to explore the Twin Cities. Routes 2, 7, and 8 run on streets directly adjacent to campus; Routes 3, 16, 50, 113, 114, 115, 162, and others stop on the Washington Avenue Bridge at the University of Minnesota (a 10-minute walk from Augsburg).

Light Rail

The Hiawatha Light Rail line (Metro Transit Route 55) runs from downtown Minneapolis to the Mall of America, with stops between at sites such as Minnehaha Park and the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The Franklin Avenue Station is a short 10-minute walk from campus.

The Department of Public Safety also offers rides to and from the Franklin Avenue Station. Just call them at 612-330-1717; often they are able to provide a ride within a short time of your call.

Discounted Fares at Augsburg

Augsburg College and Metro Transit offers students a Go-To-College Pass, which allows unlimited rides on any bus or train to any location for an entire semester. The cost to students is $150 for the semester and passes can be purchased from the Enrollment Center.

Augsburg also subsidizes the cost of transit passes for faculty and staff. When faculty and staff purchase their passes from the Enrollment Center, the cost is less than half of the normal retail price. This applies to prepaid (Stored Value) cards as well as 31-day passes. Faculty and staff can also take advantage of the option to pay for passes pre-tax via paycheck withholding.
