Most wild populations of this species are orange with broad white stripes bordered in black. This strain from the the Solomon Islands has large areas of orange replaced by black.

Clownfish form tight associations with stinging anemones, from which they gain protection from predators. Clownfish are also interesting in that they change sex from male to female as they mature.
