1999 Augsburg Biology graduate Dana Larsen

Dana Larsen '99 visited the department this Fall and updated us on her life and plans. She has been working for the last two years as a research technician at the University of Minnesota in the laboratory of Dr. Nevin Young in the Dept. of Plant Pathology. Their area of interest is a project on legume genetics and genomics. They have recently finished a partial mapping of the soybean genome project. This information allows them to look for similarities and differences among legumes and many other plant species.

Dana is getting married in May 2003 to another Auggie (Joel Howe '98) who will be finishing law school at the U of MN in the spring. She is in the process of applying to grad schools in various places around the country, with plans to get a PhD in forest genetics.

Update - May 2003

Dana e-mailed us recently and told us that she has accepted a forest genetics graduate research assistantship at Oregon State University in Corvallis in the Forest Science Department.
