I have a B.S. and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. My main research interests are in the design of programming languages, and in functional programming languages (especially Lisp). I'm also interested in automated reasoning, which is a subfield of artificial intelligence.

This year at Augsburg I'm teaching CSC 450 (Programming Languages and Compilers I) and CSC 451 (Programming Languages and Compilers II).

In addition to my interests in computer science, I'm an amateur artist. Pipe Head is a pen-and-ink drawing I did in 1978. It symbolizes one possible view of artificial intelligence research.
