Safety and the Internet

Instructions: Type your name and date in the spaces provided. Perform the following operations. Type your answers to the question in the space provided, making sure to use college-level writing mechanics (estimated length, at least 1 typed page, double spaced, for each question). Please save and print-out your work. As always, clearly label your work.


  1. Visit at least two of the Internet sites for filtering and blocking software mentioned in the lesson. Print out their home pages.

  2. Briefly describe and evaluate the software you researched. Discuss both the strengths and weaknesses of each tool's approach. Clearly identify the factors you're using to evaluate the software (don't just say "I liked it.").

3. Based on what you know about the nature of the Internet and its practical applications, discuss why it is wise (or not) to set up blocking and filtering software on computers in your professional setting.
