Augsburg College offers weekend licensure programs which serve individuals for whom the traditional Monday through Friday schedule is not feasible. These programs are fully accredited and can be taken primarily during the weekend. In all programs, fieldwork and student teaching must be done during the day, Monday through Friday. Coursework for both of the elementary programs, all of the special education licenses, and two of the majors within the secondary programs (English-Language Arts and Social Studies--History or Psychology emphasis) may be taken entirely during the weekend calendar. Other secondary majors may also be taken by weekend students, but part or all of their major coursework will be taken during the weekday college schedule.

Course Descriptions:

Program Standards:
Earning a Minnesota teaching certificate is not merely course-based. Students demonstrate their possession of rigorous outcome-based professional standards
by completing a program portfolio as they progress through the Education Department coursework. Students are advanced to student teaching placements only after a favorable review of their readiness based on portfolio documentation.
