Matthew Haines received his degree from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 1994 under Bruce Dodson. The title of his dissertation is "Ranks of Primitive, Degenerate CM Types". His dissertation was indeed rank, primitive, and degenerate.
