BSW Student Serita Lee Researches Geriatric Social Work Education at Augsburg
ZYZZOGETON!! URGO!!!

"*Zyzzogeton: The Last Word: An annual highlighting of student and
faculty scholarly work-from artistic performances to the Student Research Poster Session.

Gerontology At Augsburg
The BIG Question: With the "Baby Boom" generation retiring in the millions are social work educational institutions (read: Augsburg College) up to the task of training students for this population?

SERITA LEE Junior, Day Program, received a grant from Augsburg's Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunity (URGO) office to study social work students' ability to serve our growing older adult population.

Serita gathered pre-test data from students, created the database, and analyzed the pre-test data to determine the level of confidence of students abilities. Over the next year and a half social work courses will be infused with gerontological information and students will be surveyed again upon graduation.

The goal is to improve social worker's ability to effectively respond to the needs of our state's elderly.
