Kick off Alumni Homecoming for a post-work happy hour. Enjoy refreshments and start your evening off right as the  Augsburg Jazz Ensemble performs for your entertainment.

As a part of Augsburg’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, Assistant Professor Sonja Thompson and Alumnus Aaron Gabriel ’99 are working with a number of collaborators (and hopefully you) to create an original piece of musical theater. Please join us to tell stories, you don’t need to be a musician, actor or even sure that this is the right thing for you to join. Joshua Harris, Killa Marti & Chris Stedman will join Professor Bob Groven for a conversation on Friday, October 12 from 1:50-3:00pm in Sateren Auditorium. This unique opportunity to hear from these young alumni who have successful careers as a Politician & Community organizer, an Immigration Lawyer and Author, Humanist & community builder.

The Baby Boom Effect: How 4 years Affected 50-

Five members of the class of 1968 will each present a 3-5 minute description of how their time at Augsburg influenced what they have done personally and professionally over the past 50 years. Each has pursued different paths since leaving Augsburg while impacting the world in meaningful ways.

Mingle with alumni, faculty, and staff at this pre-reception with light appetizers and drinks before the Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony.

5pm – 7pm Homecoming Volleyball Game @ Si Melby Hall Gymnasium VS Macalester College
5:30pm – 7pm Distinguished Alumni Awards @ Hoversten Chapel
Homecoming is the time when we honor the contributions and significant accomplishments of alumni and friends with the Distinguished Alumni, Spirit of Augsburg, and First Decade awards.
7pm – 8:30pm Reunion Dinners for the 50-Year Reunion, 40-Year Reunion, 25-Year Reunion, and 10-Year Reunion @ Christensen Center

Featuring performances by the Centennial Singers and the Augsburg Choir, this worship, service led by Campus Ministry is for many the highlight of the weekend.

11am-11:45am Auggie Talk #2 – Hosted by the Class of 1993

Where did you live? The Class of 1993 was the last class to live in the “houses” on campus. Reminisce about living on campus, learn what its like to live on campus now and hear about plans for the future of Augsburg Residence Life.

11am – 1:30pm Taste of Augsburg @ Murphy Park
Bring the whole family and enjoy games, bounce houses, booths featuring food by Augsburg Student Organizations. From AASA’s amazing egg rolls to the Athletic department’s famous pork chop on a stick there is something for everyone! This is a great way to support Augsburg’s student groups!

Augsburg Women Engaged Presents: A Hagfors Center Pilgrimage with Professor Marty Stortz

Join Auggie women on a special exploration of the new Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion. This tour, led by Religion professor Marty Stortz, will begin with reflection in the Gundale Chapel, highlighting the vocational journey of Augsburg students; then a visit to the Food Lab; and along the way, reflect on the inspirational art that captures the intersections between science, business, and religion

4pm – 5:30pm Choral Showcase @ Hoversten Chapel

Featuring all four of Augsburg’s Choirs; The Cedar Singers, The Riverside Singers, The Augsburg Choir and the Masterworks Chorale. A reception will take place following the concert.

6pm – 8pm 50th Closing Reception @ Hagfors Center for Science Business and Religion, Room 150

Sunday, October 14, 2018
2:00pm You Smell Barn @ Ames Center, Burnsville
We wrap up homecoming with tickets to see the Sunday October, 14 showing of “You Smell Barn by the Church Basement Ladies at 2 p.m. in the Ames Center Black Box Theater (12600 Nicollet Ave., Burnsville, MN). This new musical comedy is based on a novel by alumnae Janet Letnes Martin ‘68 and Suzanne Nelson ‘68. The play also features Twin Cities favorite and class of 1983 alumna Janet Paone.Tickets are $33 and can be purchased at through the registration link on this page
