Why I chose Augsburg: I chose the 'Burg because, like many people, I wanted something small and in the city. Being a suburban teen, I always had my sights set on Minneapolis. My dad went here for a couple of years, but chose to drop out and go gallivanting around Europe. It didn't even occur to him to suggest I apply. It took my 12th grade Literature teacher (who happened to be an alum) to tell me that I should highly consider Augsburg. I did. When I realized that this was going to be a place where I could become involved in any activity I wanted, pursue the degree I really wanted, and be close to my younger brother, I was sold. Now here I am.
Fast facts: Someday, I will be able to say that I own a combination book store and coffee shop. That is my retirement plan. Also, I hope to be in school forever. I like to dance when no one's watching, sing loudly and off-key in the car, someday I'll write a novel (entirely on a typewriter), my favorite word is "fiend", I plan on playing my Super NES until I am too old and decrepit to push the buttons, I'm becoming addicted to the crossword puzzle, enjoy a rousing game of Scrabble, and the most important thing to me in life is the relationships I have with those closest to me.
Favorite firsts: First day of Spring when you can walk barefoot on grass, first Vikings football game of the season, first bite of cheesecake, first view of Minneapolis coming from 35W South, first crackle of the binding of a brand-new book, and the first bite of a new flavor of ice cream.
What I do at Augsburg and beyond: I spent my first two years as a member of the Augsburg Student Activities Council (ASAC) and was president my sophomore year. I've done marketing for Student Government, and was the chair of the marketing committee for Focus the Nation - a day of teach-ins on climate change. I've worked for Campus Activities and Orientation since my sophomore year. I am now the Executive Assistant. I also worked for Residence Life my junior year as a Student Programming Coordinator. Outside of school, I read books, make books, bake different types of cheesecake, paint, write, be creative in general, play golf, play softball, spend time outdoors, rollerblade, make stupid/nonsensical t-shirts for no apparent reason other than the fun of it, and once upon a time I snowboarded.
Where I've been: I have been to Guatemala and Paris. I have not had the opportunity to study abroad but I hope to do so either in January or May of this school year.
