Authority
When you are evaluating a website, the creator's authority must be determined. For example, you should probably not cite literary criticisms found on a personal blog. If the opinions are found on a site like Project Muse, however, it would be a different story. Augsburg even has some full-text journal access for Project Muse titles!
- Who published the document and is it separate from the "Webmaster?"
- Check the domain of the document and determine what institution publishes this document?
- Does the publisher list his or her qualifications?
- What credentials are listed for the author(s)?
- Where is the document published? Check URL domain.
