“I began my involvement with the Augsburg community as a student myself. After working many years in the nursing field with my two-year degree, I felt it was time to return to school and obtain my bachelor’s degree in nursing. I attended Augsburg College Rochester from 1998 to 2002 and proudly graduated with my B.S.N. I enjoyed learning so much within the Augsburg environment that I decided to continue my graduate studies, obtaining my Master’s Degree in Nursing with a focus on Transformational Leadership in 2005. I began teaching with the Augsburg nursing program in 2004. The nursing curriculum respects the expertise of each nurse and builds on that knowledge to expand your ways of knowing. It is an honor to be a part of this nursing faculty and to share my knowledge and expertise to help you along your nursing journey to fulfill your educational dream.”
Joyce teaches full-time in the undergraduate-nursing program in Rochester and works part-time as a research study coordinator at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She has clinical expertise as a staff nurse in geriatrics, pediatrics, operating room, and home health care. Joyce has fifteen years of experience in management as a nurse manager and assistant director within the operating room setting.
Joyce serves as a current member of the Augsburg Alumni Board and is presently co-chair of the Minnesota Association of Operating Room Nurses(AORN) State Council and secretary for her local AORN chapter.
