Funding for the Institute is provided by a Mathematics and Science Partnership grant, a
federally funded project of the Minnesota Department of Education.
What is the Conceptual Mathematics Institute 2?
The CMI2 is a program to increase the teaching and learning of K-8 mathematics.
The participants of the program are K-8 teachers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
The Institute is housed on the Augsburg College campus and organized by faculty members of the
Mathematics and Education departments.
The Institute will focus on several standards required by the Minnesota Board of Teaching
f or state licensure. This year, the standards that will be addressed are those dealing with
Geometry, Measurement and Mathematical Reasoning and Connection to Algebraic Thought from strands III and V of the
K-12 MN Academic Standards in Mathematics.
