Minnesota Mathematics League - COACHES' CONFERENCE
Coaches and their spouses or significant others are invited to the Augsburg College campus to participate in the two-day event on Friday and Saturday, July 30-31, 2010. This event is free of charge and includes a social on Saturday evening graciously sponsored by the ADC Foundation In 2009, the social included dinner and production of "Is There a Doctor in the House" on the Centennial Showboat. For 2010, the social will be a St. Paul Saints baseball game and pre-game picnic. On Friday evening of the conference, the League will host a special banquet to honor new Hall of Fame inductees.
A highlight of the 2010 Summer Conference will be the multiple sessions by guest speaker Richard Rusczyk, author and founder of "Art of Problem Solving" www.artofproblemsolving.com
Also at the conference, there will be opportunities to hear more about the rearranged topics for Event B for this season along with the new approach to "Challenge Topics." The three Challenge Topics from previous years, including the Euclidean Algorithm (Event 1A), Rational functions and their graphs (1D), and Number theoretic aspects of Pythagorean triples (2B), will be either eliminated or incorporated into their respective events as standard topics. There will still be Challenge Topics; however, these will change from year to year as determined by material covered at the Coaches' Conference. The Challenge Topics will be announced at the Coaches' Conference, and coaches who attend the conference will receive a decided advantage in the form of instruction, topic discussion, and practice materials.
