VA Benefits
Augsburg College is an approved Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) for federal education benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. All undergraduate and graduate offerings are certified as approved educational programs by the Minnesota State Approving Agency. Students attending Augsburg may apply for and receive these education benefits.
Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
Basic Eligibility: Service member who served on active duty on or after September 10, 2001, for at least 90 days
Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program)
Basic Eligibility: Be approved for 100% of Chapter 33 benefits and have qualifying tuition expenses

Montgomery GI Bill – (MGIB – Chapter 30)
Basic Eligibility: Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and
Coast Guard who are on active duty or have been separated from active duty
with an honorable discharge

Basic Eligibility: Members of the reserve components of the Army, Navy, Air
Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard; members of the Army National Guard

Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP – Chapter
1607)
Basic Eligibility: Members of the reserve components of the Army, Navy, Air
Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, and members of the Army National Guard
and Air National Guard who are called or ordered to active duty in response
to war or national emergency as declared by the president or Congress.
Eligibility is determined by the Department of Defense or the Department
of Homeland Security.

Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program (DEA – Chapter
35)
Basic Eligibility: Children or spouse of a veteran who is permanently and
totally disabled from service-connected causes; children or spouse of a veteran
who died in service or who died of service-connected causes; children or
spouse of another qualifying veteran or serviceperson, such as one currently
missing in action or captured in the line of duty.
