Master of Music Therapy
Equivalency Requirements
The equivalency plus program for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree and have a strong background in music but not in music therapy. These students must fulfill prerequisites for admission and will complete 7.5 Augsburg course credits in addition to the MMT degree requirements. At the end of this track, students will have earned their initial music therapy credentials as well as their master’s degree in music therapy.
Prerequisites for admission to the Equivalency plus program:
- Appropriate bachelor’s degree in music (includes large ensemble experience, chamber music/small ensemble courses, lessons in the major instrument/voice, repertoire tests, and participation in a senior recital)
- Completion of guitar, piano, and voice proficiency requirements within the first semester of residency.
The following courses will be completed at the undergraduate level prior to beginning the 18-month MMT program:
MUS 271 - Introduction to Music Therapy (.5)
MUS XXX - Music Therapy Practicum and Seminar (.5) Minimum 180 hours over four semesters
