Mathematical
Institute for Paraprofessionals Program:
Augsburg College, and Minneapolis,
St. Paul,
and Roseville Public Schools were awarded a grant from
the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office. This two-year
grant focuses on professional development for paraprofessionals
in each district. Paraprofessionals received two
weeks of professional development in K-6 mathematics content
and problem solving during the summer. In late
summer and fall, paraprofessionals received additional training
in teaching assessment
and leadership development. Paraprofessionals conduct
an "action research" project at their school site as part of
their professional development program and present their
findings
in April to Institute participants. Dr. Jeanine
Gregiore, program evaluatorfor the grant, works closely
with Dr. Larry
Copes and Dr. Linda Stevens, Education Department, to develop
the Institute Program, recruit participants, coordinate and teach
follow-up comment
sessions, and follow-up with participants. This is the fifth
year of this grant and Institute. |
