A Day at the Races is co-sponsored by Home Depot, Inc., the Science Museum of Minnesota, Augsburg College, and the NASA Space Grant Consortium. Each year the Day at the Races is held in the spring. Approximately 150-200 fourth through eighth grade students from the metro area participate in this statewide competition. Nearly 500 students across the metro area compete with their schools in order to reach this statewide competition. The top three finishers qualify to go to the national competition.

The next Day at the Races will be held spring, 2005 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
