Fellowships and Scholarships

Program Overview

The Minnesota Space Grant Consortium awards over $50,000 per year in scholarships and fellowships. Recipients range from university students at the freshman level to Ph.D. candidates. Most academic affiliates have their own fellowship/scholarship programs, whch are augmented by a Consortium-wide program. Using funds from the Consortium-wide Fellowship/Scholarship Program, the Consortium attempts to send a student each year to the NASA Academy, which provides undergraduates with the opportunity to be involved in specific research projects being conducted at one of NASA's Space Flight Centers. Approximately one-half of the scholarships have been awarded to women and underrepresented minorities.

Each year, the NASA Space Grant Program at Augsburg College offers five competitive scholarships of $1500 each to undergraduate students majoring in the natural sciences, engineering, or in science or mathematics education.  Selection of applicants is based on application, academic preparation, and potential in space science and related careers.

Applications consist of a NASA scholarship checklist, an application form, a statement of interest, a background information form, a fields of study summary, an academic information form, and a letter of reference form.  Applications for the 2004-2005 NASA Space Grant scholarships are due on October 29, 2004.  To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a U.S. citizen and a full-time Augsburg undergraduate student during the fall and spring semester. Funding will be distributed spring semester.
