Dave Conrad talks about shared purpose in Post-Bulletin

The story provided a brief overview of  why MNUDL, a program that serves more than 500 students at 33 public schools, added such a competition to its program, how the new event allows the program to introduce more bilingual students to debate, and more. Adjunct faculty member speaks about legacy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer

MatthewsThe Rev. John Matthews, an adjunct professor of religion in the Rochester undergraduate program, spoke May 8 in Muskegon, Mich., about the life and legacy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a fervent resister during World War II of the Nazi movement. Matthews, past president of the International Bonhoeffer Society, delivered the 33rd Annual Charles H. Hackley Distinguished Lecture in the Humanities and that was sponsored by the Friends of the Hackley Library. Matthews is a pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. Auggie profiled by WCCO for finishing college 35 years after start

WCCO profiled the graduation from Augsburg College of Janice Gladden ’14, who left college 35 years ago. Gladden put on hold the education her father urged her to pursue while her husband developed his baseball-playing career, going from an amateur free agent to major league star. Her husband would become a champion left- and center-fielder for the Minnesota Twins and go on to play in two World Series. She shares the story of returning to pursue her college education, of finishing what she started at the urging of her daughter (also an Auggie), and of her early years working to support her husband. Former campus ministry staff named bishop of St. Paul Area Synod

Minneapolis Star TribuneRev. Patricia Lull was elected the first female bishop of the St. Paul Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Lull, who served as staff for Augsburg’s campus ministry, was elected on the fifth ballot. Previously, Lull was executive director of the St. Paul Area Council of Churches. Former nursing faculty member talks with Pioneer Press

PioneerPressLucie Ferrell, who taught nursing at Augsburg College, spoke with the Pioneer Press’ Ruben Rosario about her visit to the National September 11 Memorial Museum. Ferrell was among the first wave of first responders from Minnesota who went to New York City to respond to the attacks on the World Trade Center towers. Ferrell n ow lives with chronic health conditions that may be due to exposure to toxins in the air at ground zero. Read “Ruben Rosario: Sept. 11 museum ensures we will never forget.”
