Thrivent sponsors Eye-Opener Breakfast Series

thrivent_breakfastThrivent Financial for Lutherans will be the lead corporate sponsor of the Augsburg College 2011-12 Eye-Opener Breakfast Series. The series, which is managed by Corporate and Foundation Relations and Alumni and Constituent Relations, provides networking and professional development opportunities for Augsburg alumni.

The 2011-12 series resumes on October 18 with featured speaker Brad Hewitt, president and CEO of Thrivent Financial, as the series-opening speaker.

Nicolas Thomley, ’06 MBA

Passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, Nicolas Thomley founded Pinnacle Services in 1999 at the age of 19 to provide housing services to people with developmental disabilities. His remarkable energy, creativity, entrepreneurial instinct, and deep-seated desire to serve others have led to his recognition as an industry leader, with his companies serving more than 1,000 disabled individuals and seniors and employing more than 400 people. The First Decade Award is presented to Augsburg graduates of the past 10 years who have made significant progress in their professional achievements and contributions to the community, and in so doing exemplify the mission of the College: to prepare future leaders in service to the world. Augsburg honors alumni

alumni_awardsAugsburg honored several alumni during last week’s Homecoming festivities including the men’s soccer MIAC championship team from 1973 (pictured with current men’s soccer coach Greg Holker, athletic director Jeff Swenson, and President Pribbenow), nine new inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame, two first decade awardees, and two distinguished alumni. Alumni-Student Networking Event on Jan. 29

On Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m., Alumni Relations; the Center for Service, Work, and Learning; and the Augsburg Business Organization will host a networking event for Augsburg alumni and students. It will provide an opportunity for alumni to connect and network with each other as well as connect with our current students and help them with questions they may have regarding life after Augsburg.

The event is being held in the Marshall Room of the Christensen Center and will start with informal networking and refreshments. At 6 p.m., a speed-networking program will begin, where participants will exchange business cards and information for 45 minutes. After the program, informal networking and refreshments will resume.
