Examples of courses that include service-learning

  • Journalism students work in a community setting and "report" on it.
  • Students in applied math modeled the impact of census data on grant money in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood.
  • A computer science class helped Seward Montessori School evaluate and update its computer system.
  • Nursing students treat neighborhood residents at the College's free clinic located in Central Lutheran Church.
  • Students studying criminology work in organizations dealing with crime and its impact, e.g. the West Bank Safety Center.
