“My work in hospitals and home care sparked a desire in me
to prevent injury/disease and to promote and protect the health of
individuals. This desire, combined with my passion for children,
led me to pursue a graduate degree in maternal/child health and public
health nursing. I truly enjoy the independence of community health
nursing and the impact my work has on the larger community and society.
My hope is to bring this passion to the classroom to inspire nurses
to utilize public health nursing interventions within their work
environment and their own unique community. I believe that application
of public health principles expands the nurse’s world and the
impact nurses have both professionally and personally.”
Tabitha teaches community health in the undergraduate nursing program.
Her areas of expertise include rural health, community/public health
nursing, adolescent health, and maternal/child health. She has practiced
as a public health nurse, county public health nursing supervisor,
immunization coordinator, school nurse, public health consultant,
childbirth educator, home care nurse for medically fragile children,
and hospital staff/charge nurse in both large and small community
hospitals. Tabitha has taught both community health clinicals and
theory at Augsburg. |
