William Patricio Aleman is the most recent addition to the faculty in the Physician Assistant Program. He is a graduate of the Physician Assistant Program at the University of California Davis and currently practices at the Mayo Clinic in the Division of General Internal Medicine. Patricio completed his Master degree in Education at the University of Minnesota and his interests are experiential learning, precepting, patient provider communication and self-directed learning.

Patricio likes to promote learning by helping students understand their own learning styles and assisting them with challenging learning environments. He wants to develop excellent clinicians who not only are capable in diagnoses and treatment of patients but are capable of self-evaluation and continued learning. He loves the Chinese quote Tell me and I will forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand.

Patricio teaches our Professional Issues course and coordinates the Pulmonary, Nephrology/Urology and Public Health/Diversity Units in our Clinical Medicine course sequence. In addition, he teaches in the Clinical Medicine units in cardiology, pulmonary, gastroenterology, nephrology, dermatology and urology.

He loves the concept of vocation in the culture of Augsburg. We are all in the pursuit of meaning for our lives and what an important way of doing it than through our teaching and work. I am privileged to be part of the Physician Assistant Program.
