Dawn
Ludwig was hired in 1995 as the director of the Physician Assistant
Studies Program. Before her employment at Augsburg, she worked
as a Physician Assistant in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine and Urgent
Care. She is still in practice part time in an urgent care setting
as she believes that it is critical for faculty members to maintain
their clinical skills in order to be effective teachers.
Dawn’s teaching interests lie in research, cardiology, pediatrics and critical thinking skills. She finds great satisfaction in watching students grow in their knowledge base as they begin to assimilate information and translate that into clinically relevant knowledge.
One of the guiding principles for Dawn in her approach to teaching is to help the student maintain the focus on service to others, to always be looking for ways to make the area right around you a better place.
Dawn is actively involved with the Physician Assistant Education
Association, the national organization of PA educators. She
stays on top of what is working in education, the changing face of
the PA students and working to adapt her style of teaching and guiding
the program to meet the changing needs in health care.
