A Voice JOE Carter has a grin that invites you to greet him. A laugh that makes you want to laugh. He has a deep, resonant, melodic voice that matches his 6 foot 5 inches plus frame. Carter is an internationally known bass baritone and founder of the Center for Intercultural Harmony located in Minneapolis. He has been performing for 23 years and is a member of the nationally recognized Penumbra Theatre Company of St. Paul. He has also toured with the Minnesota Opera Company, most recently in "Madame Butterfly." Peace Prize Festival He travels around the world at the request of schools and churches using his extraordinary voice to bring together his world and the worlds that he visits. His travels have taken him to places as remote as China or North Dakota, where he says the people there "may never have seen a black man before."
