Larry Rasmussen

Larry Rasmussen is the Reinhold Niebuhr professor of social ethics at Union Theological Seminary. He has written several books, including Earth Community, Earth Ethics, which won the 1997 Grawemeyer Award in Religion. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion, Society of Christian Ethics, and the International Bonhoeffer Society.

Rasmussen graduated with a B.A. from St. Olaf College in 1961. He received the B.D. from Luther Theological Seminary in 1965, and the Th.D. from Union Theological Seminary in 1970. He is a lay theologian of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. His current work in Christian ethics includes analysis of power, methodological issues in Bible and ethics, technology and ecology.
