Registrar's Office - ARTICULATION AGREEMENT FOR MCTC

Cinema Studies to Film Major

In Fall 2008, Minneapolis Community & Technical College and Augsburg College entered into an articulation agreement that encompasses the following programs:

These programs commenced at MCTC in Fall 2008 with the first certificates to be awarded in May 2009 and the first associate degrees to be awarded in May 2010

Transferring to Augsburg

Students who are completing one of the MCTC certificates or degrees listed above are welcome to apply to Augsburg as a transfer student.   A GPA of 2.5 or higher is recommended for admission.  Student must submit all post-secondary transcripts when applying.  Courses in the certificate and degree programs may be applied to Augsburg's Film major requirements, general education requirements, and elective credit as stipulated in the articulation agreement.  A grade of C or better is required to transfer any course to Augsburg.

Students who do not complete a certificate of degree at MCTC also are welcome to apply to Augsburg as a transfer student.  Students who are pursuing A.S. degree options and/or Film major tracks that are not included in the agreement should consult with Augsburg's Admission office, Registrar's office, and Film department faculty for information about applying their completed coursework to Film major requirements.  Course equivalencies listed in the agreement will be honored for all transfer students.

Additional Advising Information

  • MCTC students should consult the Augsburg College transfer guide when selecting general education courses in the A.S. degree
  • To maximize transfer credits that apply to Augsburg requirements, Augsburg strongly recommends that THTR 1104 Acting be taken at MCTC as part of the student's certificate or A.S. degree
  • When applying to Augsburg, students should declare a Film major and preferred track on the application
  • Students are encouraged to pursue a second major or a minor to supplement the Film major
  • Studying through Augsburg's Center for Global Education or Augsburg Abroad is also highly recommended
