Adjusting to college community living with other students may be a time of both challenge and significant growth. This may be your first time sharing a room with another individual. You may wonder how you will meet the academic challenges of college. Decisions about academics, time management, relationships, sleep, spending money, eating habits, family, friends, and much more will be ones which you must consider on a daily basis. Despite all of this, you will be surprised. Why? Because community living at Augsburg College has endless possibilities regarding the acquisition of valuable knowledge and life lessons, fulfilling memories, and authentic, lifelong friendships.

If you are feeling overwhelmed or have any questions, we strongly urge you to contact any member of the Residence Life team for support. Be certain to get to know the student staff members in your community – Community Advisors, Resident Advisors, Residential Executive Coordinators, Residential Facilities Coordinators, the Residential Communications Coordinator, and the Housing Specialist Assistant. These peers have already experienced many of the challenges you now face and can be wonderful resources for how to get the most from college life. Additionally, be sure to connect with your Residence Hall Director as this individual has the experience, training, and skill to advise on a variety of different issues. They are here for you!

Finally, as the Residence Hall Directors for upperclass residence halls on campus, we would also like to be certain that you are introduced to other staff who will be largely assistive in your journeys here at Augsburg. These residence hall professionals include Tanya Hartwig, Residence Hall Director for Urness Hall (the campus’s first year hall); Cyndy Rowe, Housing Specialist; and Amanda Erdman, Director of Residence Life.

As the Residence Hall Directors for the residence halls housing mostly upperclass students, we look forward to meeting each of you and wish you much success in your endeavors at Augsburg College.
