Location

Like Augsburg College, Bethel Lutheran Church was founded in 1869 by Lutheran Norwegians. Its mission also parallels Augsburg’s – to serve the community and the world. Both are affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Just as Augsburg’s campus and mission is integrally related to the community around it, the congregation of Bethel Lutheran Church reaches out to the community of Rochester and the world. Two community outreaches Bethel supports are Community Food Response (CFR), which uses Bethel’s facilities to give food to the needy three days a week, and Habitat for Humanity, which uses one of Bethel’s houses rent-free for their office space.

Bethel has also opened its facilities to Augsburg College to provide administrative, classroom and meeting space for programs serving students in the Rochester area. Augsburg is fortunate to call Bethel Lutheran Church our campus in Rochester.
