Field placements are not only the basis for sound social work curriculum, but also are long-remembered. The social work department is deeply appreciative of all the field instructors who have committed to the education of our students, as well as the future of the social work profession as a whole. These contributions help make our program such a success, and we are pleased to offer a variety of benefits to field instructors, such as free CEU workshops.
The Augsburg College Department of Social Work offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s level social work degrees. BSW students are required to fulfill a minimum of 240 hours in field placement in their junior year and 240 hours in their senior year. MSW students must complete 420 hours in their first year (foundation) and a minimum of 500 hours in their second year (concentration). The MSW program offers two different concentrations: Multi-Cultural Clinical Practice (MCCP) and Program Development, Policy, and Administration (PDPA). Agencies interested in hosting BSW, Foundation, MCCP, or PDPA students must have internships that fit the requirements outlined in the field manual.
If you are a new agency and would like to host a student intern, please fill out a Field Application Form. If you are a returning agency and would like to update your agency’s current description, please email Field Assistant Courtney Zaato. (email@example.com).
