Contract
Summary
The contract promotes individual recovery and group cohesiveness. It has
evolved out of the expertise of chemical dependency professionals and the
experience of students and staff. As our community continues to grow contract
development will be an important endeavor. Deliberations between staff
and the Governing Board are an
integral part of this process.
There are
14 key commitments that serve as the foundation for enrollment in the program.
They are as follows.

Attend AA/NA meetings at least twice
each week;

Attend my home group once each week;

Develop a close, conversation intimacy
with my sponsor;

Adhere to the AA legacy of honest, open-mindedness,
and willingness;

Attend all mandatory StepUP meetings,
retreats and activities. Leave Monday evening open for Dinner 4:45-5:30,
Circle meetings 5:30-6:00pm and Floor Meetings of 6:15-6:45.

Attend weekly meetings with StepUP Staff;
-
Fully participate in regular cleaning
of my House;

Treat others respectfully and support StepUP
students in the policies of the StepUP Contract;

Contribute to maintaining a positive sencse
of community with in StepUP

Refrain from entering romanitic and/or sexual
relationships with another StepUP student unless BOTH have one year of
recovery and one semester in StepUP

Refrain from visiting high-risk environments
(i.e. strip clubs, casinos, raves bars, places where alcohol and o/or illegal
drugs are present);
-
Be on time for classes, appointment and commitments,
unless medical conditions make it impossible;
-
Turn in all assignments on time; and attend
meetings with my CLASS Specialist, if required to determine educational
accommodations I may need;

Not be involved in the access of alcohol to
minors, be it in sales, possession or distribution. I am prohibited from
assisting in the relapse of an individual known to be chemically depended
or alcoholic. I will also not involve myself in any transaction in which
illegal drugs change possession
The contract is enforced in part by Floor Managers. Floor Managers are
paid student workers and members of the community. They are responsible
for confronting and reporting behavior that is not in the spirit of the
contract. After 5 serious infractions students go before the Review Board.
The Review Board is a group of students and co-facilitated by staff. The
group issues disciplinary decisions after meeting with the student and
deliberating.
The StepUP program reserves the right to administer drug testing to first
semester students or anyone under suspicion of drug or alcohol use. The
