Financial Aid Instructions: Fall 2023 – Summer 2024
Applying for financial aid can sometimes be an intimidating process. We are here to help guide you through it by providing step by step instructions on how to apply. To receive federal student loans funds, you must file a FAFSA. Students not interested in borrowing loans to cover their education expenses, should e-mail studentfinances@augsburg.edu to let us know that they are only interested in any awarded scholarship funds and will not be filing a FAFSA.
If you are interested in federal student loans:
1. File a 2023-2024 FAFSA using your 2021 tax return. Make sure to submit the FAFSA by signing with your FSA ID. Augsburg’s school code is 002334. Review the Common FAFSA Filing Errors before you click submit.
2. Submit Additional Documentation as Requested. You will be notified via email by Augsburg on what additional documentation is required. You can also “Track Your Financial Aid” and view the documents tab to see if additional documentation is required. Review Augsburg’s Document Descriptions for details on financial aid documents.
Augsburg Tuition Grant Programs*
Augsburg Partnership Grant – Students who are employed by one of Augsburg’s partner organizations receive a tuition grant of $80 per credit. View a list of partner organizations and learn more at the Partnership Grant page.
Augsburg Alumni Grant – Augsburg University graduates receive a grant of $80 per credit.
AmeriCorps Grant/PeaceCorps/Lutheran Volunteer Corps Grant – Students who have served with AmeriCorps, PeaceCorps or Lutheran Volunteer Corps receive a grant of $80 per credit.
Legacy Grant – Students who have had parents, grandparents, siblings or a spouse who received their degree from Augsburg University receive $80.00 off per credit.
Military Grant – Students who have served in the United States Military receive a grant of $80 per credit.
Parent Grant – Parents who have a child attending Augsburg University receive a grant of $80 per credit.
*These grants are made available to students at the time of their admission only and may not be used concurrently with any other institutional scholarship or grant program.
Inclusion Excellence Scholarship
Aimed to reduce financial barriers to graduate education for BIPOC identifying students, historically under-represented students, first generation college students, and/or those with the greatest financial need.
Amount: $5000.
Deadline to apply: June 15th (Priority Deadline), June 30th (Final Deadline)
- Racialized lived experience as someone who identifies with backgrounds historically excluded from and underrepresented in college education and career paths.
- First generation college graduate (neither parent/guardian having completed a baccalaureate degree).
- Other lived experiences historically underrepresented and/or marginalized within graduate education including but not limited to the following:
- Holding DACA, TPS, refugee, or asylee status
- Having a gender and/or sexual orientation identity historically underrepresented in the applicant’s profession
- Individuals with a disability
