Student Financial Services - Tax Documentation for the 2011-2012 Academic Year
You must submit copies of the following to the Office of Student Financial Services before you are awarded financial aid:
Dependent Students: Submit a signed copy of the first two pages of your own 2010 Federal 1040 form as well as a signed copy of the first two pages of your parents' Federal 1040 tax form. Tax forms that are not signed will be mailed back.
Independent Students: Submit a signed copy of the first two pages of your own 2010 Federal 1040 tax form. If your tax forms were self-prepared or e-filed, you must sign each page of the tax form. If you are married and filed separately, submit a signed copy of the first two pages of your own 2010 Federal 1040 tax form as well as a signed copy of your spouse's 2010 Federal tax forms. Tax forms that are not signed will be mailed back.
Can’t find your tax return? Call the IRS at (800) 829-1040 to order a tax transcript.
Be sure to include your name and student ID number on every form you send in to our office. The Office of Student Financial Services must receive these documents before you can be awarded financial aid for the academic year.
For the 2011-2012 Financial Aid Year:
You are considered independent, and parental information is not necessary if you:
- Were born before January 1, 1988 OR
- At the beginning of the 2011-2012 academic year you are working on a master’s or doctorate degree (MA, MBA, MD, JD, Ph.D. graduate certificate, etc.) OR
- Are married as of the day you complete the FAFSA OR
- Have children who receive more than half of their support from you OR
- Are an orphan or are/were a ward/ dependent of the court until age 18 OR
- Are a veteran of the Us Armed Forces OR
- Are currently serving in active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for purposes other than training
