Student Financial Services - Tax Documentation for the 2010-2011 Academic Year
You must give the Enrollment Center copies of the following before you are awarded financial aid:
Dependent Students: Submit a signed copy of the first two pages of your own 2009 Federal 1040 tax form (if applying for the 2010-2011 academic year), as well as a signed copy of the first two pages of your parent's Federal 1040 tax form. Tax forms that are not signed will be mailed back.
Independent Students: Submit a copy of the first two pages of your own 2009 Federal 1040 tax form only (if applying for the 2010-2011 academic year). Tax forms that are not signed will be mailed back. If you are married and filed separately, you must submit a signed copy of the first two pages of your own 2009 Federal 1040 tax form as well as a signed copy of your spouse's 2009 Federal 1040 tax forms (if applying for the 2010-2011 academic year).
Can’t find your tax return? Call the IRS at (800) 829-1040 to order a tax transcript.
Be sure to include your name and student ID on every form you send in! The Office of Student Financial Services must receive these documents before you can be awarded financial aid.
For the 2010-2011 Financial Aid Year:
You are considered independent, and parental information is not necessary if you:
- Were born before January 1, 1987 OR
- At the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year you are working on a master’s or doctorate degree (MA, MBA, MD, JD, Ph.D. graduate certificate, etc.) OR
- Are married as of the day you complete the FAFSA OR
- Have children who receive more than half of their support from you OR
- Are an orphan or are/were a ward/ dependent of the court until age 18 OR
- Are a veteran of the Us Armed Forces OR
- Are currently serving in active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for purposes other than training
