![]() The Social Work Department values transfer students. They often bring to the program a variety of life experiences, maturity, focus, and a desire to excel academically. Our classes are better for having students who have a different point of view to contribute to the ongoing discussion. We would like to make the transition to Augsburg's BSW degree program as smooth as possible. There are several things you can do at your current school to prepare to continue your education at Augsburg. Anoka Ramsey Community College Century College Inver Hills Community College Minneapolis Community and Technical College Normandale Community College North Hennepin Community College Ridgwater Community College TRANSFERRING INTO THE AUGSBURG BSW PROGRAM WITH ASSOCIATE IN ARTS AND ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE DEGREES Associate in Science (AS degrees) are designed to allow students to complete a two-year course of structured study before completing a degree at a four year college. Graduation strategies change depending on which degree, AA or AS the student has completed before transferring to Augsburg. The AA Degree Path to an Augsburg BSW Associate in Arts Degrees are 60 to 64 semester credits in length and is nearly equivalent to the first and second year of a four-year degree. AA degrees often follow the MN Transfer Curriculum guidelines and cover many of the Augsburg general education requirements. But not all— A student with an AA degree must complete courses not covered by the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum:

Note: Other required supporting courses are often available at the two-year schools [human biology, race/class/gender courses, and introductory courses in psychology and sociology] The AS Degree Path to an Augsburg BSW Associate in Science Degrees are 60 to 64 semester credits in length and like the AA degree cover many of the general educations requirements of Augsburg College, but 1-2 fewer courses. AS degree components vary, but often a transferring student needs an additional courses credit in fine arts and the humanities. AS degree programs are designed for transfer to a baccalaureate major in a related scientific or technical field, or may be designed for employment. A student with an AS degree must complete courses not covered by the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum:
