Setting up an automated "vacation" reply

When you are away from your Augsburg e-mail account, you can set up an automated message that will be sent in response to any messages delivered to your INBOX.  This message is referred to as a "vacation" message.

1. Login to Inside Augsburg

Go to the Inside Augsburg page. Login by entering your current AugNet username and password in the boxes on the left and clicking "login".

2. Go to the E-mail Account Configuration page

Now that you are logged in, click on "Account Utilities" under "AugNet Services". When the menu expands, choose "E-mail Account Configuration".

3. Enter your message

To activate your vacation message, check the box on the left of "Enable a Vacation Message".

Enter your message in the large text box underneath (the subject line will always be "Away from my mail").

4. Set an expiration date

If you wish to set an expiration date, enter a date in the box next to "Expires on".

When you click on the text box, a small calendar will appear. You may either select the date from the calendar, or type the date in the box. You can close the calendar by clicking the "Close" link at the bottom.

Your vacation message will be automatically deactivated on the date you indicate.

5. Choose a folder for new mail

To redirect your incoming mail into a special mailbox while you are away, check the box next to "Redirect new E-mail to the folder Vac-yyyy-mm-dd". Any new mail delivered to your account while your vacation message is active will be automatically placed in the folder indicated.

This mailbox is not subject to the Augsburg e-mail quota, so none of your new mail will be pruned before you have a chance to read it.

6. Submit your changes
Check your message to be sure it is correct, then click the [Submit Changes] button at the bottom of the screen.

7. You will receive a confirmation that your request has been processed successfully.

(Note: if you receive an error message stating that the server is busy, press the 'F5' key to refresh the page. You should eventually see your changes submitted successfully.)
