A: You will be notified by mail or phone within two weeks of the date your application is complete. Please contact the Day Program Admissions Office at 612-330-1001 if you have any questions.

Q: Can I have a tour of campus? How will I know where my classes are?
A: We encourage you to come for a campus visit if you are thinking of transferring to Augsburg College. Your visit will include a meeting with an Admissions Counselor, a campus tour, and a preliminary transfer credit evaluation. The admissions office can also arrange meetings with faculty, financial aid representatives, or other Augsburg faculty and staff.

Q: Is there an orientation program for transfers?
A: Before the beginning of each semester Augsburg’s orientation staff hosts a Transfer Information Program (TIP) where current students who also transferred to Augsburg serve as mentors for incoming day school transfers. The TIP introduces new students to the resources that are available at Augsburg.

Q: If I transfer to Augsburg, can I live on campus?
A: Yes, transfer students are eligible for on-campus housing. Incoming day school students are encouraged to plan ahead and contact Residence Life (612-330-1488) about living on campus. Junior and senior housing is apartment style and includes meal plans in most cases.

A: In general, we will not accept the following:
-Courses graded below 2.0
-Developmental or remedial courses
-Skill or technical courses
-Business courses more than 10 years old

Q: How do I convert quarter or semester hours to Augsburg's course credit system?
A: Augsburg grants course credits rather than quarter or semester hours. One Augsburg course credit is equivalent to 6 quarter hours or 4 semester hours. This means:

Q: How do I get a transcript evaluation?
A: You will receive an official transcript evaluation upon admission to the college. This evaluation will list those courses accepted in transfer, how many transfer credits will be granted, and how those courses accepted in transfer apply to our general education requirements, the Augsburg Core Curriculum (requirements of the Core Curriculum can be found here).

If you've completed coursework that you feel may be applicable to your major (prerequisites or major requirements), please notify the admissions office about the major you intend to pursue at Augsburg. After you are accepted, admissions can initiate a department review of your previous coursework.

Q: Can I appeal the results of the transcript evaluation?
A: Yes, students have the right to appeal the evaluation of their transfer credits. Please contact the transcript evaluator with questions or concerns regarding the evaluation (612-330-1316). You may be asked to supply additional information (such as course descriptions or syllabi) before a decision can be made.
