Attention WEC Students!

Many changes have occurred with the Augsburg WEC Student Senate!  A recent vote from the Student Body adopted a new constitution which will change how WEC Student Senate representatives are chosen.  The changes also create numerous opportunities for WEC students to be involved!  Scroll down to see some of the options that await you.

Why Get Involved?

Why Not?

Why not become part of an organization that will help to shape your education?

Join campus-wide committees that work to refine existing or create new policy to improve the college experience for everyone:  students, staff, administration and their families.

Why not become part of a movement that will help guide the future of the college and it’s students?

Participate in groups involved with short and long term goal setting.

Why not take the opportunity to learn, network and build your resume without paying for course credit?

Gain leadership skills in real time from some of the most experienced leaders in the Metro area.

Preamble
The Augsburg Weekend College Student Senate (WEC SS) is established to enhance the educational experiences of students both inside and outside the classroom.

Mission

The Augsburg Weekend College Student Senate is an organization of students serving and representing the interests of students who attend college on the weekends, striving to enhance educational experiences while maintaining and promoting relationship within the Augsburg community.

Purpose

The WEC SS shall serve as the official representative voice for the Augsburg WEC student body, advocating for student rights and needs, and providing developmental opportunities to enhance learning in diverse environments.

Becoming a Program Senator
Students can represent their program by becoming a Program Senator.  To vie for this position one must fill out and submit the WEC Program Senator Petition.   Students wishing to fill the position of Program Senator can submit the petition to the WEC Senate prior to the start of any term.  New candidates will be considered at the first regular Senate meeting of each term.

Want to be involved, but don't want to be a Senator?
Consider being on a committee or starting a club.  Students can serve on the Student Life Budget Committee, Publicity Committee, Student Concerns Committee, Steering Committee or Elections Committee or campus wide committees.  For more information on these committees or how to start a club, email the WEC Student Senate at wecgov@augsburg.edu
