Academics
What happens in the classroom definitely doesn’t stay in
the classroom.
Augsburg’s liberal arts tradition stresses intellectual rigor
and high standards while its hands-on approach delivers the practical
skill you need in whatever field you choose—everything you need
to learn, grow, excel, and change.
At the heart of our academic program is our innovative Augsburg Core
Curriculum, designed to prepare students to become effective, informed,
and ethical citizens. While it promotes the development of your intellectual
and professional capabilities, it also teaches you how to:
- Express yourself
- Work in small groups
- Interpret data
- Use new technologies
- and think critically, among a host of other practical skills
Four out of five professors at Augsburg have the highest
degree in their field.
Well-connected outside of the College, Augsburg faculty infuse their
teaching with extensive knowledge of and contact in the community; classes
regularly venture off campus to apply theory and concepts to
first-hand experience. A number of disciplines offer outstanding student/faculty
research opportunities that often lay the foundation for later graduate
work, while also fulfilling the Augsburg Experience requirement for
graduation.
In this supportive environment, you will learn how to work with people
of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures—essential preparation
for your current and future participation in the workplace and
community.
