This included a full set of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Augsburgian<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Augsburg\u2019s yearbook published from 1916 to 2010. For nearly a century, these yearbooks documented the buildings, faces, and events that stood out each year on campus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They also reflect the graphic design aesthetics of their period. I particularly enjoy the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3A10272\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nordic viking themes from 1930<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3A1965#page\/1\/mode\/2up\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">midcentury modernism evident in 1958<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but my favorite yearbooks all date from the 1970s. Looking at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3Ayearbooks?page=2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">covers from 1970 to 1979<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you can almost hear the music transform from folk to disco.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/10\/Augsburgian2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-49869 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/10\/Augsburgian2-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"group talking to police officer\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/10\/Augsburgian2-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/10\/Augsburgian2-768x532.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/10\/Augsburgian2-1024x709.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2018\/10\/Augsburgian2.jpg 1386w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>You can also see how the decade ushered dramatic changes in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. Beginning with its heady days as the epicenter of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3A4190#page\/148\/mode\/2up\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minneapolis counterculture<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Cedar-Riverside transformed with the construction of Riverside Plaza and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3A4608#page\/22\/mode\/2up\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">unrest that welcomed the development to the neighborhood.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is also interesting to see the histories of familiar places, such as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3A5369#page\/51\/mode\/2up\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lucky Dragon and Hard Times Cafe<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (once Mama Rosa\u2019s). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To view the entire Augsburgian Collection, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/islandora\/object\/AUGrepository%3Ayearbooks\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">click here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>About the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archives.augsburg.edu\/\">Augsburg Archives<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The University Archives preserve Augsburg\u2019s legacy and make its historical information available to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and researchers.
