And this fall, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/inside.augsburg.edu\/ctl\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Center for Teaching and Learning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched a program to support professors eager to enhance their pedagogy and classroom management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/inside.augsburg.edu\/ctl\/classroom-consultants\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Classroom Consulting<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is designed to offer individualized and course-specific faculty development through confidential peer partnerships. The program\u2014available to any Augsburg faculty member, including adjunct instructors\u2014operates fully outside the tenure and promotion review process (see\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/web.augsburg.edu\/ctl\/Classroom%20Consulting%20-%20Confidentiality%20Policies.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">confidentiality policy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Heading the program is <strong>Tim Pippert<\/strong>, associate professor of sociology and director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pippert said interactions with trained\u00a0consultants\u2014a mix of 17 faculty who specialize in a variety of teaching methods and settings\u2014are\u00a0provided in strict confidence and may take many forms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese anonymous consultations are a collaborative process, driven by the needs of each faculty member who reaches out for support,\u201d said Pippert, who has taught at Augsburg for 16 years. \u201cOne faculty member may want to talk through a specific problem or ask a consultant to review course materials while another might request a consultant to observe a class or explore strategies to more fully engage students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consultants are available on an on-call basis to offer assistance to fellow faculty members. Because consultations are course- and faculty-specific, Pippert said the center pairs inquiring faculty members with consultants whose expertise aligns with their needs, goals, and schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur consultants are a great resource for all faculty, from the tenured professor who has taught the same class for 15 years to a newcomer eager to gain his or her footing,\u201d Pippert said. \u201cAnd while those involved with the program maintain anonymity, faculty who engage in the program are free to share their participation.
