When the stress piles up too much, it can get in the way of daily and academic functioning. Counseling can help you find new ways to cope. Here at the Center for Wellness &amp; Counseling, we believe that it is a sign of intelligence and strength to recognize when you may need help.<\/p>\n<p>Students come to counseling for many different reasons: anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, losses, loneliness, procrastination, family problems, problems with sleep, problems with focus, concerns about eating and body image, sexual and gender identity, coping with micro-aggressions, and more. You don\u2019t have to worry that what you are struggling with \u201cisn\u2019t important\u201d \u2013 it is important to us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Counseling services<\/h2>\n<p>Counseling services at CWC are available during fall and spring semester (8am-noon and 1-4:30pm Monday through Friday, closed during the lunch hour noon to 1). \u00a0During the summer, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/cwc\/community-resources\/counseling-low-cost\/\">free or low-cost counseling services<\/a> are available in the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022short-term individual counseling for currently enrolled students during fall and spring semester<\/p>\n<p>\u2022counseling is available by Zoom or in person (Zoom is through an encrypted healthcare portal)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/cwc\/counseling\/after-hours-phone-counseling\/\">phone counseling<\/a> for urgent personal concerns (24\/7\/365)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022walk-in hours Tuesdays 1-3pm, Wednesdays 1-3pm, Thursdays 1-3pm<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<a title=\"Crisis support\" href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/cchp\/crisis-support\/\">crisis intervention<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022consultation and referral<\/p>\n<p>\u2022sexual assault support<\/p>\n<p>\u2022consultation to students concerned about a friend&#8217;s mental health<\/p>\n<p>\u2022couples counseling (if both partners are Augsburg students)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022limited short-term psychiatric consultation for CWC clients only (after referral by a CWC counselor)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022limited short-term nutritionist consultation for CWC clients only (after referral by a CWC counselor)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Confidentiality policy:<\/h2>\n<p>The counseling center is staffed by professional counselors and services are confidential. Within ethical and legal guidelines, information shared with a counselor cannot be shared with faculty, staff, or parents without the student&#8217;s written consent.\u00a0 For information on limits to confidentiality, see the &#8220;CWC Welcome Form&#8221; accessible in your CWC portal once you sign up for an initial appointment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>SECURE CLIENT PORTAL<\/h2>\n<p>CWC now uses Point and Click for electronic health records for all students using our services.\u00a0 When you schedule an initial counseling appointment, the scheduler will send you an appointment confirmation email with directions for accessing your client portal.\u00a0 You will use your portal to complete the initial paperwork, take the Behavioral Health Measure assessment\u00a0tool before each appointment, access your Zoom link if you are having a telehealth session, and securely message CWC or your counselor.\u00a0 You can also give CWC permission to send a text reminder before your appointment through the portal.\u00a0 If you have any questions, email\u00a0<a href=\"&#109;a&#x69;l&#x74;o&#x3a;&#99;&#x77;&#99;&#x40;&#97;u&#x67;s&#x62;u&#x72;&#103;&#x2e;&#101;&#x64;&#117;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#x63;&#x77;&#x63;&#x40;&#x61;&#x75;&#103;&#115;&#98;&#117;rg&#46;e&#x64;&#x75;<\/a>\u00a0or contact the front desk at 612-330-1707. Thanks to Augsburg Student Government for financial help in paying start-up costs for the portal!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>COUNSELING FORMS<\/h2>\n<p>First session paperwork will be provided to you by a secure email link to complete prior to your first counseling session.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What to expect during your first counseling appointment:<\/h2>\n<p>\u2022Make sure you have completed your first session paperwork through the email link provided to you.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022When you arrive for an in-person appointment, use the electronic check-in by the front desk; you will then be issued a behavioral self-assessment questionnaire to do through your client portal (this takes about 5 minutes).\u00a0 If you have an online appointment, check in using the link in your email to your client portal and do the behavioral self-assessment questionnaire.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022During your first meeting with your counselor, your counselor will ask you about the concerns that are bringing you in for counseling; you may also be asked for some background information to help your counselor better understand your concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022You and your counselor will talk about your goals for counseling, and whether CWC is the best place for you to get support. \u00a0In some cases, your counselor may refer to other resources on or off campus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>If you need to cancel an appointment:<\/h2>\n<p>Counseling works best when you make a commitment to the process, so we ask that you keep all your scheduled appointments. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please call (612-330-1707) or email CWC (&#x63;&#x77;&#x63;&#x40;&#x61;&#x75;&#103;&#115;&#98;&#117;rg&#46;e&#x64;&#x75;) as soon as possible to let us know.
