Crime advisories are issued for crimes that:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are reported to occur on or near campus,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">do not meet the criteria for a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1yquQhzUvO3H7_bQ0qtPDMdCCj5JpVPuwlVu8d_3nlPM\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.2s5d2h5fmgap\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">timely warning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1yquQhzUvO3H7_bQ0qtPDMdCCj5JpVPuwlVu8d_3nlPM\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.8ttft76jqdh4\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">emergency notification<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pose significant concerns for the safety and wellbeing of students and employees.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Examples of situations in which a crime advisory would be issued include but are not limited to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an identified pattern of criminal acts not listed as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1G5fkeVXO1EQebbIH1OXn1Rf3F0DHvA_uTCGC_uuYVJY\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.i5uu4vxvq6iz\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clery Act crimes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a geographical area on or around campus that has been identified as a targeted area for criminal activity, or<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">information for the campus community that could prevent future crimes of a similar type that have occurred.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crime advisories are not required by state or federal law.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Use the button on the following heading to expand content on Timely Warnings<\/span><h3 class=\"augs_expand_expandable_heading\"><button data-action=\"expands\" aria-controls=\"augs_expand_69e49a1a341cf\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Timely Warnings<\/button><\/h3><div id=\"augs_expand_69e49a1a341cf\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A timely warning aims to provide information to aid members of the University community in protecting themselves after a report of a serious crime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University shall issue timely warnings in the event that:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1G5fkeVXO1EQebbIH1OXn1Rf3F0DHvA_uTCGC_uuYVJY\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.i5uu4vxvq6iz\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clery Act crime<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was reported to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/u\/0\/d\/1PVuMfa53c9DqHLXHCwK2w-CbI9Q1RInBPxZBekYZ390\/edit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">campus security authority<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or the Minneapolis Police Department,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that occurred within the University\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1-ufbyIKlxx-FMH7sQ8q9hFxx7F9umBGi\/view?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clery geography<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">represents a serious or continuing threat to students and employees of the University.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A timely warning will not be issued for a Clery Act crime if:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DPS or the Minneapolis Police Department apprehend the subject(s) and the threat of imminent danger for members of the University community has been mitigated by the apprehension;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a report was not filed in a timely manner (i.e., usually 10 days after the crime occurred) and the threat no longer exists to the University community; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a report was not filed with DPS, or the Minneapolis Police Department does not notify DPS or University officials of a report made to them which would allow DPS to post a timely warning for the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n<span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Use the button on the following heading to expand content on Emergency Notifications<\/span><h3 class=\"augs_expand_expandable_heading\"><button data-action=\"expands\" aria-controls=\"augs_expand_69e49a1a341f9\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Emergency Notifications<\/button><\/h3><div id=\"augs_expand_69e49a1a341f9\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/p>\n<p><center><p><a type=\"button\" class=\"btn btn-default btn-lg\" href=\"https:\/\/shibboleth.omnilert.net\/Shibboleth.sso\/Login?providerId=https:\/\/sso.augsburg.edu\/simplesaml\/saml2\/idp\/metadata.php&amp;target=https:\/\/shibboleth.omnilert.net\/shibboleth-sp\">Sign Up for Emergency Notifications<\/a><\/p><\/center><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An emergency notification will be sent in the event that the University determines there is a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on or immediately adjacent to campus. It is a law that provides for the tracking of convicted, registered sex offenders enrolled as students at institutions of higher education, or working or volunteering on campus. The law requires institutions of higher education to issue a statement advising the university community where law enforcement agency information provided by the State concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained. It also requires sex offenders already required to register in a State to provide notice, to the appropriate state agency, as required under State law, of each institution of higher education in that State at which the person is employed, carries on a vocation, or is a student.<\/p>\n<p>The information is available at the following websites:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dps.mn.gov\/divisions\/bca\/bca-divisions\/investigations\/Pages\/predatory-offender-registrations.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension<\/a> administers a predatory offender registration and tracking program. Information regarding this program can be found at their web site.<\/li>\n<li>Information regarding registered sex offenders may be obtained through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minneapolismn.gov\/resident-services\/public-safety\/police-public-safety\/police-reports-and-data-requests\/sex-offender-community-notification\/\">Minneapolis Police Department<\/a> (MPD). The MPD may be contacted at 612-673-3767. An offender locator, for offenders that have the highest risk for re-offense, can be accessed from the Minnesota Department of Corrections website.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsopw.gov\/\">National Sex Offender Public Registry<\/a> provides the public with access to sex offender data nationwide.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.familywatchdog.us\/showmap.asp\">Family Watch Dog<\/a> allows individuals to enter an address and a map will pop up with your house as the small icon of a house and red, blue, and green dots surrounding an entire neighborhood.
