In compliance with the \u201cTimely Warning\u201d provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, <\/b>Augsburg University Department of Public Safety (DPS) is giving notice of a concerning incident that occurred, as reported below, Parking Lot L.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reported Offense:\u00a0 Motor Vehicle Theft<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

On August 31st at approximately 1:15 PM, DPS received a report of a motor vehicle theft in Lot L.\u00a0 The report was made by an Augsburg student who was the owner of the vehicle. DPS also received two reports, earlier in the day, of vehicles that were broken into on 22nd Ave across from the entrance to lot B.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Status<\/span><\/h3>\n

DPS and the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) are currently investigating these incidents. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact MPD (911) or Augsburg DPS at 612-330-1717<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

DPS <\/span>is grateful to the members of the Augsburg community who promptly called 612-330-1717<\/span><\/a> to notify DPS of this incident. <\/span>Please report any and all concerns that may impact our campus community. Safety Tips<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

  • Keep your head up and always be aware of your surroundings.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Don\u2019t leave valuables in your vehicle.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Notify Augsburg Public Safety or the Minneapolis Police immediately of any suspicious or dangerous activity. Do not assume someone else will make a report.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • If you are being harassed, go to a public place and ask someone to call Augsburg Public Safety or 911.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Do not sit or walk with your phone\/laptop out.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • If approached in your vehicle by someone you do not know, do not open doors or roll down windows.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Be aware of campus resources and support one another<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Augsburg University believes that physical descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual.\u00a0 When physical descriptors are included in communication to the Augsburg community, it is done so because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of the incident.\u00a0 Augsburg University uses perceived race and gender descriptors that are provided about a suspect only when additional characteristics (beyond clothing) are also available.\u00a0 Such descriptors are used in an attempt to provide the campus community with important information.\u00a0 However, the University recognizes that race and gender are personal identity attributes that cannot always be accurately perceived by others, and that any reported information may not be accurate.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
