Dr. VanGetson is an Associate Professor in Nursing and the Director of the Doctorate of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Augsburg University. She pioneered Augsburg University’s DNP-FNP program in 2013 with a focus​​ in​ Transcultural, Holistic and Integrative Primary Care. She teaches a variety of courses with a particular concentration in Cosmology, Mindfulness Meditation and Care of the Soul practicum. She also takes students to Oaxaca, Mexica for Dia de Muertos Practicum.

Since 1984, she has worked in Cardiovascular Surgery ICU/PCU at Mayo Medical Center in Rochester, MN. In 2004, she opened Hermitage Farm Center for Healing, Integrative Health Care Clinic, also located in Rochester. Hermitage Farm offers a variety of Integrative Health Classes and ​many Complementary and Integrative Healing modalities.

Dr. VanGetson ​provides Holistic Health Coaching, Energy Medicine Treatments, Shamanic Healing Holistic Stress Management courses and Consultations, Integrative Primary Care, and Meditation classes at Hermitage Farm. She is part Cherokee Native American and has a passion for helping nurses understand their role as healer.

Dr. VanGetson has spoken at National and local Nursing Conferences in the following areas: Spirituality and Healthcare, Nursing Ethics, The Red Road, Self as Healer, Shamanic Healing, Holistic Health Coaching, Aromatherapy, and Integrative Health.
