She has served as a conductor and band director at Bemidji State University, the University of New Hampshire, Ohio State University, and Mukwonago (WI) High School. She was also recently a teaching artist for Arts Integration Menomonie, integrating music into Menomonie&#8217;s elementary school curriculum. Dr. Svanoe earned a D.M.A. from the Ohio State University, a M.M. from Oklahoma State University, and a B.M.E. from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She is an active freelance composer and won The National Band Association Young Band Composition Contest in 2014 with her composition &#8220;The Haunted Carousel.&#8221; She currently lives in Menomonie, WI with her husband, designer and graphic novelist Erik Evensen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Erika Svanoe is a conductor, composer, and educator in the greater Twin Cities area.
