World Wednesdays Spring 2021

During spring 2021 semester, the study abroad/away office will host weekly “World Wednesdays” live on zoom to answer your questions about study abroad/away for the future. Each Wednesday, we will do a deep dive into a specific topic with guest speakers, experts, and various program representatives, along with time for Q & A from the audience. Recordings will be posted here after the live event concludes.

Upcoming Sessions

March 24th Augsburg CGEE in Southern Africa

  • Time: TBA
  • Did you know Augsburg has had a presence in Namibia and South Africa for over 25 years? Our CGEE program in Southern Africa is a great fit for anyone interested in studying from the African perspective.

  • Interested in learning about shorter options for study abroad/away? This World Wednesday, join us in learning about how short term programs work, and all of the upcoming short term options available to Augsburg students including programs in Germany, Cuba, Mexico, and more.

January 27th: STEM abroad

  • Time: 10:30 am – 11:00 am
  • This week we’ll be discussing study abroad/away options best fit for STEM majors. This will include a special guest presentation from our partner, School for Field Studies representative Devin Foxall and Biology and Environmental Studies faculty member, Emily Schilling (who studied abroad in Madagascar!).

February 3rd: How to Affordable Study Abroad/Away

  • Time: 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm
  • Don’t let cost get in your way to study abroad/away! Come to this World Wednesday session to learn about how financial aid works for study abroad, and which programs for Augsburg students can be the most affordable options. We’ll hear from Catherine Maun from the Financial Aid Office and Carden Olson, Auggie alum and Gilman Scholarship winner who studied abroad in Denmark.

February 10th (two events!): Psychology abroad & River Semester Information Session

River Semester Information Session

  • Time: 12:00 pm
  • This will be a chance to learn more about the Fall 21 River Semester program and expedition, and is for students who are interested in applying, have already applied, or are just curious to learn more about this unique semester-long trip down the length of the Mississippi River. Information session will be presented by faculty leader, Joseph Underhill.

February 17th: Communication and New Media in Mexico

  • Time: 10:30 am – 11:00 am
  • A spotlight on the Augsburg CGEE program in Mexico developed for students majoring in Communication Studies, Film, and New Media. On this program, students explore social change in Mexico, by examining migration and human rights, and how different groups communicate their stories to the world. We’ll hear from Communication Studies faculty member Kristen Chamberlain and CGEE Mexico representatives.

March 10th Second Event: World Wednesday Partner program highlights DIS Study Abroad

  • Time: 7:00 p.m.
  • Join staff and student voices from Copenhagen, Stockholm, and the U.S  for an info session on Wednesday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m.. They’ll share things you should be thinking about as you shape your study abroad future, and you have the opportunity to ask questions.
