Today, StepUP<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> at Augsburg University is one of the oldest and largest residential collegiate recovery programs in the United States accompanied with sober living. More than 700 students have graduated from the program, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Phoenix Spirit recently published a piece\u00a0by Nell Hurley, recruitment and outreach coordinator for StepUP, tracing the program\u2019s history and impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cStepUP is so much more than a sober dorm,\u201d Jon Stentz, one of StepUP\u2019s Licensed Alcohol and Drug counselors, told Hurley. \u201cIt\u2019s the connection and the community that students find here that makes all the difference. It\u2019s been said that connection is the opposite of addiction. The StepUP connection is where the magic is. Our students support each other and hold each other accountable.
